The business meeting will begin at 1:00 p.m., and closed session will begin at 8:30 a.m. The meeting will be broadcast live on Comcast Channel 34 (HD 1071), Verizon FIOS Channel 36, and RCN Channel 89. The meeting is rebroadcast at 1:00 p.m. on the Saturday and Sunday following the meeting.

Update - April 12, 2024.  Nominations for the 27th Annual Distinguished Service Awards closed on March 8, 2024.  Thank you to everyone who submitted a nomination.  The list of awardees may be found on the Board of Education's webpage regarding the Distinguished Service Awards.  The event will be held on May 7, 2024, at 6:00 p.m.

February 5, 2024 - Board of Education to Vote to Appoint Interim Superintendent

The Montgomery County Board of Education is planning to vote to appoint Dr. Monique Felder as interim superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) at their Board meeting on Tuesday.

Dr. Felder brings 32 years of experience in public education, including as superintendent for Orange County Public Schools in North Carolina, where she was nominated as regional superintendent of the year.

The Board of Education will vote to appoint Dr. Felder to the role of interim during their Board meeting starting at 11:00 a.m. on tomorrow, Tuesday, February 6, 2024.

Capital Improvements Program - Hearing Notice

The Montgomery County Board of Education (Board) will hold a public hearing on March 7, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., to hear testimony regarding the capital projects of Crown, Damascus, and Charles W. Woodward high schools, as well as, the replacement projects of Burtonsville Elementary School and JoAnn Leleck Elementary School at Board Acres.  The Board will hold a public hearing on March 14, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., to hear testimony regarding the Interim Superintendent’s Recommendation to Revise the Boundary Study Scope for the Reopening of Charles W. Woodward High School and the Interim Superintendent’s Recommendation for the New Crown High School/Damascus High School Expansion Boundary Study Scope.
